The Collaborative for Transdisciplinary Justice Transformation (CTJT)

The Collaborative for Transdisciplinary Justice Transformation (“CTJT”) is a research project created in Cincinnati, Ohio with the intention to bring all people together and create solutions to the mass incarceration crisis on a community level. CTJT is a co-learning action research community that seeks to promote mutual thriving and reduce reliance on criminal legal systems as a default response to social problems.

CTJT brings together people who are active in community organizations, people who work in criminal legal systems, and people who teach and do research in different academic disciplines to bring fresh thinking and action to the U.S. criminal justice crisis.

CTJT, with which the Jones Center is proud to partner in offering this toolkit, seeks to build collaborative relationships among community members, activists, and academic researchers to advance social change through high priority, feasible, and sustainable action plans.

Project Activities in CTJT

  • Four virtual workshops and one in-person conference where project partners generated specific, feasible, high-impact action plans to promote mutual thriving and reduce reliance on criminal legal systems.
  • Follow-up surveys and interviews with project partners to learn more about how CTJT worked and how CTJT can improve.
  • Sharing CTJT findings through different media for different audience, such as this website, policy white papers, and academic publications.
