Starting Sunday August 5, Kate Murphy and Meg Vogel’s project called The Sex Talk video series will be published by The Cincinnati Enquirer and USA Today. The video series focuses on the conversation that is not happening about campus sexual assault.

The Sex Talk comprises of ten videos that look at the epidemic of campus sexual assault in a new way by creating an honest digital conversation with people who are on the front lines and different sides of the issue.

“This project is truly a conversation that exposes and explores the complexity of our culture, how we talk about sex, how campus sexual assault crimes are handled and the frustration and pain that people face each day because of this issue. We about 3 million students who are on campus this fall will be sexually assaulted sometime during their college years. But, we know its more complicated than numbers,” said Murphy.

Each video addresses a different question or topic about the issue. Also, each has a different message that illustrates the overall problem.

Here are the questions/topics addressed:

  1. What is the problem and why is campus sexual assault an important issue?
  2. What is sexual assault, what is consent?
  3. Who is affected and what is impact of sexual assault?
  4. What is rape culture?
  5. How does alcohol play a role?
  6. What does sex assault look like on campus?
  7. What are people afraid of?
  8. What responsibility and/or response should universities have to protect their students and handle these cases? How does the current process work?
  9. How do we make the numbers go down?
