Transatlantic Approaches to Racial Equality is an interdisciplinary conference that explores the challenges to racial equality faced by Europe and the United States. Today, these two polities stand at similar crossroads, framed on one hand by an aspirational equality that both have struggled to realize and on the other hand by a reactionary conservatism that manifests as xenophobia, nationalism, and populism. This conference brought together experts from both sides of the Atlantic from anthropology, communications, culture studies, law, media studies, political science, and sociology.
